About Us

The Family Business was started in 1951 by Eddie Thomas and in those early days traded as Lasham Grass Drying Company.  As the name suggests the principal activity was drying grass to produce grass meal which was used in the animal feed compounding trade.

As this was a very seasonal business, Eddie introduced farming and transport activities to provide all round employment for staff and a better balanced and less seasonal business. Grass meal production ceased in 1963 when other products become more widely available and could offer better value to the trade.

Mike Thomas joined the family business in 1968 and the company continued to develop the farming and road haulage interests and grew steadily. In the mid 70’s the company took the opportunity to build and manage a warehouse on their premises at Lasham, and farming ceased because it was incompatible with the warehousing activities.

Over the next 10 years haulage and warehousing continued to grow and the workshops were developed to maintain the fleet of commercial vehicles. In the mid 80’s the company expanded by purchasing the depot at Farringdon and taking over the Alton Depot from where it was able to offer maintenance facilities for both commercial and private vehicles.

In the late 90’s ISO approved quality systems were introduced to all of the trading divisions under-pining the professional image and quality values of the Company.

The commercial garage was closed in 2006 and since then the company has focused on warehousing, storage and distribution, and on managing the commercial property portfolio based on the company’s freehold business estates in Hampshire.
